Travis Perkins Managed Services (TPMS) has launched TPgo SelfServe, an unmanned store in Stroud.
The store, in Dursley, Gloucestershire, was developed for Stroud District Council. The hi-tech shipping container uses a smart panel and RFID technology, and operatives are issued with an ID fob with a unique number that allows them to access the container. It will let operatives tap in and collect their building materials.
The system helps social housing providers and their contractors lower their carbon footprint and increase efficiencies by reducing travel miles. The agreement will see them use the full TPgo suite, including TPgo Order and TPgo Data, which are designed to aid transparency, improve efficiencies and save money for social housing providers and their contractors.
Adam Kent, business development executive and frameworks manager at Travis Perkins Managed Services, said: “We have provided Stroud District Council with our innovative TPgo SelfServe solution. It’s a game-changer for responsive repairs. It means operatives can access materials 24/7 with a simple ID fob. They just grab what they need and go – the smart RFID system automatically scans the items and handles the job costing seamlessly in the background. It’s all about getting the right materials, at the right time, and in a convenient location beyond our current branch network.”
