Insulation specialist Actis, whose HQ is in South West France, has become a corporate patron of UNESCO World Heritage site the Canal du Midit.
The 17th century canal, which runs from Toulouse to the Mediterranean, is one of the oldest in Europe. The engineering feat is regarded as an immense historical, cultural and environmental asset, encouraging tourism and economic development in the region.
The canal’s Corporate Sponsors’ Club will see funds invested in a vast tree planting programme along the 150 miles of its length, following the decimation by canker stain of plane trees which lined its banks.
Actis UK and Ireland sales director Mark Cooper said: “Our development team is dedicated to researching ever more sustainable ways of ensuring our products not only offer optimum thermal efficiency but are also created in the most energy efficient way. Our new role as patron of one of the country’s most culturally, historically and environmentally significant treasures is the latest demonstration of our ongoing commitment to the environment.”
