Builders Merchants Journal – BMJ Publishing to Builders Merchants and the UK merchanting industry for more than 95 years
Avtar Construction, the groundworks contractor that specialised in the housebuilding sector, owed suppliers and subcontractors £4.4m when it went into administration.
That’s according to a report filed at Companies House by administrators from FRP Advisory. Avtar had been in business since 2010, working for regional offices of major house builders like Vistry, Persimmon and BarrattRedrow.
Among the debts relvealed were £420,000 to HMRC, and £615,000 to merchants and suppliers including Kellaway, Bence, Lords, Travis Perkins, Strutka, Jewson and Hanson Aggregates.
FRP said the firm was hit by a string of bad debts culminating in a loss of £730,000 during its last financial year.
