Travis Perkins Hire management team goes back to the floor

Senior leaders from Travis Perkins Hire swapped laptops for the trade counter and yard to give branch colleagues a day off.

Travis Perkins Hire managing director Ian Sharman-Jones led the members of the senior leadership team at the Bristol St Philips branch to carry out the operational work for a day.

The team carried out a range of jobs, including serving customers both in-person and on the phone as well as testing and cleaning equipment. Regular members of the Bristol St Philips’ team were each given a day off from their job as a reward for winning an internal competition, which saw the 270 branches competing in a special ‘bingo card’ style competition, with the race on to complete 25 tasks throughout a month to achieve a ‘full house’.

The teams at Bristol St Philips and Aylesbury came out on top to trigger the main prize, while more than 30 branches won vouchers for pizza.

Sharman-Jones said: “It was a real pleasure for myself and other members of the SLT to give our successful colleagues a day off and to step up and do important work in the branch. I used to work in branches so it was enjoyable to roll back the years and carry out some of the tasks our colleagues do so brilliantly every day.”

Travis Perkins Hire has thousands of products available for trade and construction customers to source the right solution for every job, no matter how large or small.
