W.Howard helps employee drive his career forward

Mark Odams passed his category CE driving test in November with the support of W.Howard Group Transport Manager Neville Waring and his team of Drivers. A category CE driving licence means Mark can now operate the company’s articulated fleet vehicles as well as the rigid vehicles.

Mark first worked as a Category B van driver at W.Howard Group’s London Distribution Centre (LDC), before passing his Category C HGV rigid vehicle licence.

In May 2019, Mark transferred to W.Howard Group’s Manchester Distribution Centre (MDC) as a van driver as there was no rigid vehicle in the MDC fleet. When the opportunity arose, W.Howard Group worked closely with Mark to provide the training he needed to progress his skills to the next level. L r Neville and Mark from WHoward Group

Steve Greenhalgh, group logistics manager, said: “At W.Howard Group we have a long history of supporting our employees with the training and skills progression they need to further their careers. We know how important it is that our team is extremely well-trained at all times, with expertise that helps us to give our customers the very best customer service.

“We are thrilled that Mark has successfully passed his category CE driving test. We have all been impressed with Mark’s commitment, eagerness to learn and progress, and the team were only too happy to help support him with on-the-job training. Well done to Mark and all those involved in helping him achieve his goal.”
