Premier Forest Products CEO and Co-Founder Terry Edgell has brought together local businesses to explore how employers can help young people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness build brighter futures through sustainable employment.
Edgell welcomed 55 businesses to the Homewards’ New Employment Opportunities Network (NEON) Employer Breakfast Briefing in partnership with Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid, Held at the Coldra Court Hotel in Newport.
The briefing explored the barriers vulnerable young people can face when entering and sustaining employment, and how employers and the wider business community can play a vital role in helping them overcome these challenges.
Attendees heard from a number of speakers who shared their personal experiences and highlighted the transformative impact employment can have on vulnerable young people.
As Chair of NEON Newport, Edgell comments; “I’ve always believed that building a successful business brings a responsibility to support the communities around us.
“We recognise that offering someone a job is only the beginning. Providing the right support, guidance and encouragement can make all the difference in helping them overcome challenges, thrive at work and realise their potential.
“My ambition for NEON Newport is simple: to bring businesses together to give more vulnerable young people a fair chance. By working together, we can help them build the confidence, independence and stability that meaningful, lasting employment can provide.”
