Travis Perkins celebrates directors’ three decades

Two colleagues are celebrating three decades of working for builders’ merchant Travis Perkins.

Dan Storer, regional director for Birmingham and the West Midlands, and Dave Stretton, regional director for Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, both started working at Travis Perkins on the same day, joining the business’ Management Training Programme, which has recently relaunched, back in September 1996.

After completing the Higher National Diploma they continued their progression through the business having almost symmetrical career paths. First they took on assistant branch manager roles before they went on to spend more than 20 years between them as heads of various Travis Perkins branches.

The two were then promoted to regional directors in 2014.

Storer said: “I feel incredibly proud to say that I have spent the last three decades with Travis Perkins. The business has changed so much throughout my time. I have worked across all aspects of the company throughout my career, but at the very heartbeat of Travis Perkins’ colleagues, customers and suppliers is a family feeling, and that has stayed with me. It is a great place to work, and I am one of those lucky people who can honestly say that they love their job.”

Streeton said: “I wasn’t sure what it was that I wanted to do when I left school but I can really say that joining the apprenticeship programme with Travis Perkins was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I met some great people during that programme and then throughout my time and the support from the business to enable us to move up through the ranks has been great.”
