Travis Perkins launches landmark CONNECT carbon tool

Builder’s merchant Travis Perkins has launched CONNECT, a new carbon calculator designed to simplify Scope 3 reporting for customers.

Scope 3 measures all indirect greenhouse gas emissions in a supply chain and downstream categories; from sourcing the raw materials for a product, through manufacturing to the point of delivery to the customer, ensuring full traceability.

Weight of materials is mapped in tonnes and kilograms, and a precise CO2e figure has been applied to more than 120,000 products, using manufacturer’s EPD data where it exists and drawing from recognised industry datasets elsewhere.

The platform was designed and built by a team led by Phil Monkman from Travis Perkins Group company and interiors specialist, CCF.

Monkman said: “Up to now, the only way to get really accurate carbon data has been for the subcontractor to download delivery tickets and invoices and manually input the information, line-by-line. For some this could mean inputting up to 3,000 data points a month, just for carbon reporting.

“CONNECT is Ideal for both upstream and downstream reporting, with every delivery captured in real time and each item matched to a precise CO2e value. This removes the need for estimates and manual data chasing, replacing it with an accurate, automated and transparent system.”

CONNECT is currently being rolled out at Travis Perkins, CCF, Keyline, BSS and Travis Perkins Managed Services.
