Travis Perkins has announced it has partnered with security firm, BauWatch, to offer construction firms a means of protecting their sites from theft.
BauWatch’s range of deter and detect CCTV solutions will be available to hire from Travis Perkins, as part of a unique partnership for the builders’ merchants – this includes deployable, solar powered CCTV towers, which require no additional power to run.
Managing director of BauWatch, Alexis Potter, said: “Any construction firm that’s dealt with theft will know that the price of leaving sites unprotected heavily outweighs investing in upfront measures.
“Theft tends to increase alongside longer darker evenings, so keeping materials and equipment under surveillance is vital. This partnership with Travis Perkins will help put our solutions into the hands of as many construction firms as possible ahead of Autumn.”
It reported that material and equipment thefts cost the UK economy £800 million annually, BauWatch offer 24/7 monitoring giving consumers a way of safeguarding high value assets.
The minimum hire period of one week means the equipment can be deployed as needed when materials are delivered. The service also includes regular check in meetings to understand build stage and progress, and access to a local security expert to advise and understand project needs.
Customers will be able to access a livestream of camera footage of their site through the online app, BauWatch online.
Annabel Hiatt, hire category manager at Travis Perkins, added: “Stealing materials and equipment from construction sites is not just costly and frustrating – it’s damaging to taxpayers and communities.
“With the rising cost of living, materials inflation, and darker evenings accelerating criminal activity, there’s never been a better time for construction firms to consider easily deployable solutions like those offered by BauWatch.”
