On The Tools receive £1million in funding to launch agency

Lee talk 6Construction social media publisher, On The Tools, has received 1million pounds in funding from a private investor to launch a new social media and publishing agency called Electric House. Electric House will combine the services of a social media and marketing agency model with an online community-first media publisher. The funding will accelerate the growth of the agency and relocation to offices at Fort Dunlop in Birmingham.

On The Tools was co-founded in 2014 by two friends, Lee Wilcox, CEO of On The Tools, and Adam Barrie, Creative Director. On The Tools has evolved over the past five years to become a business employing 40 people, with offices in Tamworth. The new offices in Birmingham will be able to house up to 110 people, within a 10,000 square foot space.

On The Tools is currently the UK’s largest online community for those in construction, and has a following of over three million on Facebook. On The Tools was founded to connect the construction industry, championing builders and tradespeople to ensure they have the same opportunities, perks and privileges as the white collar world.

Lee Wilcox CEO of On The Tools said, “We’ve been on a journey for the past 12 months to secure funding for our business expansion plans and are thrilled to have achieved funding at the £1 million mark. The investment will allow us to officially launch an exciting new agency offering, with relocation to new offices in Birmingham which will allow us to continue to grow.

“Working with the UK’s builders and tradespeople through On The Tools will remain a key component of the agency. On The Tools has continued to grow through its community-first publishing approach. What this means is simple, we have a two-way relationship letting the construction community drive the news agenda, and letting them consume content the way they want to – which is mostly via video. Our ethos as an agency is to continue this community first approach to content, and use this to give our brand partners insight and resonance.”

“The name Electric House was chosen as the name of the agency as this was the name of the original 500 square foot office we occupied.

“We also felt the name Electric House accurately represented the energy, pace, but equally pragmatism of the people who make up the agency. It’s also relevant to our roots within construction.

Electric House will launch offering a range of services including: brand partnerships, campaign strategy and delivery, insight, brand partnerships and creative content and production.
