Covers employee completes 26 mile walk for charity

An employee from Covers in Chichester has completed a 26 mile walk in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Georgina Silk, who is an E-Commerce Assistant at the timber and builders’ merchant’s Chichester depot, took on the Thames Path Mighty Hike to help raise funds for the charity, raising a total of £265.

Starting out at Windsor Racecourse, the picturesque route followed the banks of the River Thames passing through some of the beautiful towns and villages of Berkshire, including Bray, Maidenhead and Marlow, before finishing in Henley. She completed the route in six hours, 30 minutes.

Commenting on the challenge, Silk said “It was an incredibly tough challenge, albeit extremely enjoyable. There was a real buzz among the other walkers and it was so rewarding to cross the finish line knowing I had raised money for such a great cause. Macmillan Cancer Support is close to my heart. My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, but thankfully she has been clear of the disease for 13 years. It’s such a great charity so I wanted to commit to this challenge to help raise funds and awareness of the work it does providing physical, financial and emotional support to anyone dealing with cancer.”
