The talk about the increasing possibility of a post- election hung parliament next week, plus Andy Brown's blogs about his cabinet Dream Team got me thinking. It's only a bit of fun, but here is my pick of who I would like to see in which post.

I'm not really one for looking back, but man, am I glad to have seen the back of 2010.

This time a year ago, the British voting public decided that they had had enough of two party politics and put enough little crosses on enough little pieces of paper to produce the almost unthinkable - a government that included the Liberal Democrats.

Hands up who hasn't done this, or something very similar.

Forgive me for inflicting some of the details of my domestic life upon you all, but as I sat at the kitchen table, surrounded by union jack flags and all the paraphernalia to make red, white and blue themed cupcakes for tomorrow's school Jubilee street party, a thought occurred to me.

Holy crap. Could this shower that we voted in get any worse?

I hate this recession.

Ed Miliband and David Cameron can witter on all they like about putting a cap on energy bills or rolling back the eco-levy. It won't solve the basic, undeniable truth of the problem which is that we, as a nation, use far too much energy (and water, which is related) to go about our daily…

Well woo. And indeed, hoo.

Recessions come and go in cycles and so do the reactions to those recessions.
