According to the latest figures from DECC, the Green Deal is gathering momentum.

Ironically enough, as I was driving away from the NMBS Supplier conference the other week, I drove past a lorry from the Happy Hen Company which proclaimed: "Happy hens lay better eggs" - that its eggs were better than others because they are happier.

So the dust has settled on George Osborne's penultimate pre-election Budget. How do you feel now then chaps? Richer? More secure? Happier?

Things are what you might call looking up.

Well, here we are again, at the start of another new year. Happy New Year!

So, another year and another Conference goes by.

I wrote most of this blog this morning (November 25) before the Chancellor released his Autumn Statement. To be honest, I wasn't really expecting to have to rewrite it in the wake of an announcement about a massive injection of infrastructure spending into energy efficiency. But it would have been nice.

You couldn't make this stuff up.

Whilst there are reports that the economy is coming out of recession and in construction some of the bigger firms are reporting that things are less gloomy, it would appear that the supply side of the built environment is still making life difficult for itself.

While building and construction is often considered as a traditional or conservative industry, which progresses slowly, we cannot expect it to remain immune from these changes.
