Winners rewarded at BMJ Industry Awards 2023

Thursday 28th September saw the return of the BMJ Industry Awards at Covent Garden’s Grand Connaught Rooms.  The event was introduced by BMJ’s Group Managing Editor, Fiona Russell Horne, and hosted by the double act of actor Stephen Mangan, and Alan Dedicoat, the voice of the National Lottery and Strictly Come Dancing.

The awards ceremony kicked-off with the Merchant Bathroom and Kitchen Showroom of the Year, which was won by C&W Berry.

This was followed by the Bathroom Supplier of the Year which was awarded to PJH and the Heavyside Supplier of the Year went to Knauf Insulation.

Next came the Independent Rising Star of the Year which was awarded to Zoe Harvey, from Bradfords Building Supplies.

James Burrell Builders Merchants were the winners of this year’s Independent Merchant of the Year (8-20 branches) award and the trophy for the Plumbing and Heating Supplier of the Year category, was presented to Polypipe Building Products.

Soon after we had the Merchant Marketing Initiative of the Year which was won by Jewsons for their Bulk Bag campaign.

Dave Chapman from BSW Timber won the award for Supplier Account Manager of the Year; then came the Roofing Supplier of the Year which was taken home by SIG Roofing.

The award for the best Merchant Landscaping Display of the Year was awarded to Cartmore Building Supply Co.

The next award was a very special one, which was the Maddie Rose National Rising Star of the Year award.  This category had eight fantastic finalists which showcased the great future of our industry.  This year the accolade was presented to Chloe Bright from Jewson.

Jewson took home the National Merchant of the Year award, while City Plumbing were awarded the Plumbing and Heating Merchant of the Year.

Knauf Insulation won the Insulation Supplier of the Year and Jewson celebrated another win with Timber Merchant of the Year.

Timber Supplier of the Year was presented to Lawson (Whetstone); followed by the Multiple Merchant of the Year (21-100 Branches) award which went to Bradford Building Supplies. 

Next came the Landscaping Supplier of the Year which was awarded to Marshalls.

This year’s BMJ Industry award for the Small Merchant of the Year was presented to Beers Timber & Building Supplies and this year’s Distributor of the Year was TIMCO.

Travis Perkins took the trophy home for the E-Commerce Initiative of the Year and Bradfords Building Supplies won the Merchant Environmental Award.  This was followed by another award that celebrated the best new talent in the industry, the Apprentice/ Trainee of the Year, which was won by Saskia Blacklock from Jewson.

Finally, the last award of the evening, 2023’s coveted Industry Personality of the Year award.  This award was taken home by Travis Perkins’ Frank Elkins.
