Squire achieves 75% reduction in plastic packaging imports

Squire unlocks a sustainable future: 75% reduction in plastic packaging imports

Padlock manufacturer Squire has implemented a series of changes to significantly reduce plastic waste across its product range.

The company has moved away from plastic-heavy packaging formats as part of its ongoing environmental responsibility efforts, replacing blister packs with boxed and carded alternatives where possible.

This transition has already led to a substantial reduction in plastic used across the business. In 2025, Squire imported 857kg of plastic packaging by weight – a 75% reduction compared to 2024, where 3,364kg of plastic packaging was imported.

In addition, Squire is working closely with its manufacturing partners to ensure packaging materials are recyclable and aligned with the company’s sustainability objectives and wider UK guidelines.

National field sales manager at Squire, Terry White, commented: “Reducing plastic and improving the sustainability of our packaging is a key focus for Squire. By making considered changes to how our products are packaged and working closely with our supply partners, we’re taking meaningful steps to reduce our environmental impact while continuing to support our retail customers. The feedback we’ve received so far has been extremely encouraging.”
