Samac Fixings, suppliers of fixings, fasteners and roofing materials, has announced the appointment of Simon McElrea as its commercial manager.
McElrea spent more than three decades with an independent merchant in East Anglia, where he played a pivotal role in its growth and development. In recent years he has continued to contribute to the wider industry, working closely with the National Merchant Buying Society (NMBS) for over a decade as a specialist on various category committees, and more recently leading a strategic project focused on strengthening the supplier portfolio and protecting category value across the construction and industrial sectors.
McElrea comments: “I’ve always been passionate about this industry – especially the independent sector – as it’s built on trust, honesty and friendship, values that have shaped my whole career. Business is about relationships, and people are at the heart of it.
