Clare Hasprey, a specification manager from Quinn Radiators has completed the London to Brighton bike ride, in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
Hasprey was riding in memory of her friend’s baby, Alana, who died from a congenital heart condition when she was just three days old. Quinn Radiators sponsored Team Alana’s shirts for the 54 mile bike ride in support of the appeal.
She also made the ride doubly difficult by doing it after she had had a hip replacement operation. After months of rehabilitation and training, Hasprey managed to complete the gruelling bike ride in nine and a half hours.
She says: “I knew it would take me longer to complete the bike ride than the rest of the team. With 24 miles to go my knees were hurting and swollen and I was exhausted. We set ourselves a target to raise £1,000 and thanks to the generous donations we have received so far, have already doubled this amount. However, we would still be grateful for any more donations as we’re hoping to raise as much money as possible to go towards research and helping other families.”
