MKM Building Supplies (MKM will open its 129th branch in Workington, Cumbria on June 24; open to tradespeople and the public, its new branch will create 20 new jobs for the area.
MKM Workington will be led by branch director Phil Bold, a born and bred Workington local who has over 19 years’ experience in the building sector. Bold joins from another well know builders’ merchant, where he worked his way up through the ranks to become branch manager of the largest branch in the North of England.
Bold said: “The opportunity to lead MKM Workington and support the creation of 20 new jobs in my hometown is a privilege. Local customers have lacked a choice of merchants for years, and we’re set to change all that.
“In total, our team have over 180 years of combined trade experience between them; customers can expect a beautiful showroom to inspire their build projects, well stocked shelves, and the best local, knowledgeable team to service them. Oh, and free tea and coffee of course. Bring your marras for a look.”
With a substantial covered space for timber, the Workington branch will stock a large range of building materials, with standout brands including Kingspan Insulation, Velux Windows, Brett Martin Drainage, Global Stone, Marshalls, Siniat Plasterboards, Visqueen, K-Rend, Ecorend and more.
MKM Workington is going to be a stunning new merchant set in the most accessible location in town,” said Bold.
“If it’s inspiration customers’ are after, our stunning, state-of-the-art MKM kitchen and bathroom showroom is unlike anything you’ll find in any other builders’ merchants, and for those in need of some advice or expertise, our team are experts on civils, roofing, timber, landscaping, tiling, building materials, drylining, tool hire, kitchens, bathrooms and plumbing and heating. To locals, we want to be the ‘big yellow building down the road’ and our customers can always expect us to be welcoming, helpful and provide the products and services they need.
“We want every customer that walks into our branch to feel welcomed and supported, whether they’re a seasoned contractor or a first-time DIYer,” emphasised Bold. “Our team is ready to provide expert advice, competitive pricing, and a customer-centric shopping experience. We can bring in specialised products our customers want, and ongoing training and development means we’ll always be on top of modern trends and methods.”
