Customers of builders merchant Kent Blaxill raised £2,136 for Macmillan Cancer Support at a charity auction held in Colchester.

A cheque was presented to Macmillan representative Claire Husband by Kent Blaxill by Carl Jenner, KB Colchester branch operations manager, and other members of staff.
“We chose Macmillan Cancer Support because we have had a number of people touched by cancer,” said Jenner. “In all we had 19 items auctioned, with a real bidding frenzy building up for an I-Phone, which eventually went for £499.”
The event was handled by auctioneer Jonathan Benson of Reeman Dansie.
It was all part of the Kent Blaxill’s first Summer Showcase evening which saw the whole of the company’s 7-acre site opened up to tradesmen and members of the public.
“We had 60 suppliers demonstrating their products as well as two food stalls” Jenner added. “It was a very well attended event with a very buoyant atmosphere to it.”
The Colchester branch will be holding a coffee morning on Sept 30 to raise further funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
