Timber doorset manufacturer JELD-WEN has announced that relocation of it production machinery to the company’s new facility at Bessemer Park in Sheffield is now well underway.
The new manufacturing facility, which will be fully operational later this year, forms part of the company’s long-term strategy to strengthen its UK manufacturing footprint.

One of the most complex stages of the transition, the manufacturing equipment is being relocated in carefully planned phases across eight operational zones, and has taken 18 months of preparation, daily coordination meetings and detailed site management .
The relocation has also included the transfer of 65 existing production assets, all of which were successfully recommissioned to ensure full compliance with industry operation, maintenance and safety standards at the new facility.
To ensure employee safety, the site was divided into eight operational zones, so machinery could be moved safely and efficiently in phases while maintaining access across the wider facility.
Dominic Gaffey, vice president and general manager, UK, France and Export, at JELD-WEN, said: “Relocating an operational manufacturing facility is a significant project that requires extensive planning, communication and teamwork. Every stage of the machinery relocation has been carefully coordinated to maintain safety, minimise disruption and support continuity for our customers.
“Reaching this stage represents an important milestone in our move to Bessemer Park. The new facility will provide a strong foundation for future growth and help us to continue to deliver the quality, reliability and service our customers expect.”
