Bristol independent builders merchant Kellaway Building Supplies has announced a further year’s sponsorship of the Bloodhound SSC Project.
The pioneering supersonic car project aims to create a land speed record car capable of achieving over 1,000mph. Over the next twelve months, the supersonic car will be constructed and tested in the UK, with the land speed record being attempted at the Hakskeen Pan in South Africa during 2012.
Chris Parker, Kellaway’s sales development and marketing manager says: “We are keen to invest in the engineers of the future and Bloodhound is committed to an exciting education programme for schools and colleges that brings science and engineering to life.”
One of the key aims of Bloodhound is to inspire young people to choose to study science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects at school and university.
“In the current economic climate, supporting the engineers of tomorrow has become more important than ever before”, he adds, “and we are proud to be part of this significant initiative.”
Kellaway has taken its commitment to young people one step further with the announcement of a £10 discount off special Trade Kits for apprentice carpenters, plumbers and general builders.
Kellaway is a partner in the indepdent buying group NBG LLP.
