Specialist sustainable heating equipment supplier IntaEco has launched an iPhone app to help specifiers and engineers calculate the correct size of expansion vessel for their solar installations.

The app, which is available download for free from the iTunes store replaces a cardboard ‘slide rule’ version that had been in circulation for several years.

Stuart Gizzi, IntaEco managing director, said: “There’s no denying that calculating solar expansion vessels can be tricky, even with our cardboard calculator. This app will make things much easier. And as the news presenter explained so succinctly – if your expansion vessel is too big, you’re wasting money; if it’s too small, it could go bang.”

IntaEco’s range of solar expansion vessels is made by Zilmet and is designed for system temperatures reaching 110°C, and peaks of 130°C.
