Grant Engineering unveils brand new facilities at manufacturing HQ in Co Offaly

On Friday 17th January, Grant Engineering in Birr, Co Offaly, welcomed the Irish Prime Minister to officially open their extensive new facilities which include an impressive R&D Innovation Centre, a dedicated Customer Services Centre and a large Training Academy.

The official launch event marked the culmination of a €14 million investment project which has taken place over the past four years at Grant Engineering’s manufacturing premises in Birr. Since the Company was established in 1978, Grant Engineering has always been based at the same site which has, over the years, undergone several expansions. This latest development programme, however, is the largest that Grant Engineering has undertaken with an additional 10,000 square foot of manufacturing, design and training facilities being added to the existing site.

Visitors to the HQ of Grant Engineering are now welcomed by a new state of the art building which is fronted by an extensive showroom. This showroom showcases a range of Grant’s innovative heating products, from the award-winning oil-fired boilers through to their latest air source heat pumps, hybrid technologies and heat emitter ranges. Away from the showroom, an impressive Research and Development Centre is also based in the new building where exciting product concepts are being designed and tested ready to form part of Grant’s product portfolios in the coming years. Alongside the R&D Centre, a new Customer Services Centre is located within these premises which will be on hand to provide dedicated product support for homeowners and heating engineers throughout Ireland. The impressive glass fronted building is also home to Grant Engineering’s Training Academy which was previously based in the original building on site. The move to the new building has enabled Grant Engineering to significantly expand their training offering with a tiered lecture room and two training workshops with fully operational working products installed.

In addition to the development of the purpose-built building, the manufacturing premises have also been expanded to increase the production capacity of several product lines. The manufacturing plant has also invested heavily in new robotics and automation equipment which has been installed to help Grant Engineering meet the increasing demand for its products both at home and overseas.

To mark the official launch of the premises, the Irish Prime Minster, Leo Varadkar, was invited to open the new building and address the guests present. This launch event signifies a new era for Grant Engineering, marking a continuation of the Company’s ongoing mission to help homes reduce the carbon footprint of their heating systems. The new facilities will enable Grant Engineering to develop and manufacturer the heating products of tomorrow while also providing the customer and engineer support needed to move the domestic heating market, both in Ireland and in the UK, into a greener, more sustainable future.
