Fire breaks out at timber store

A fire at a timber factory in Bolton damaged machinery and part of a building.
Fire crews were called to Tonge Bridge Timber Sales where a wood cutting machine was blazing on a mezzanine floor of one of the warehouses, at the premises on the Mill Hill Industrial Estate.

Another machine at the furthest end of the building was also alight, thanks to the dust that travelled through the factory’s extractor system.

Crews were at the scene for four hours, with the wood cutting machine severely damaged, the room gutted and the roof damaged.

The fire is thought to have started accidentally.
