Peter Stringer, formerly managing director of Jewson, has joined MKM’s management team.

MKM is the UK’s largest independent builders merchant, with 42 branches across England and Scotland.

It was established in 1995 by David Kilburn and Peter Murray. In the year to September 30 2014, it turned over £212.8m.

Stringer started his Jewson career in 1983 as an assistant manager and became managing director in 2012, having also previously been managing director of Minster and operations director at Graham.

Kilburn said: “Peter Stringer joined MKM Building Supplies as of Monday, February 1st. He has taken a broad business development role within the company that will utilise his many years of experience in the industry.”
