Elliotts' tool man sets up fund to battle cancer

Angela Tugwell passed away on the 26th November 2013, after a short, brave battle with cervical cancer. Tugwell described her as a “devoted wife and mother to daughter Emma aged six.”

In the UK nine women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every day. Despite this, 20% of women still do not attend their cervical screening so raising public awareness of cervical cancer prevention is more necessary than ever.

She was diagnosed early last year and had treatment with radiotherapy and chemotherapy for much of the year. Although initial scans showed that the disease had already spread to the lymph glands, the treatment did reduce the size of the cervical tumour, but following further complications, Angela sadly passed away in November.

The tribute fund the family have set up in order to keep Angela’s memory alive is http://jostrust.tributefunds.com/fund/Angela+Tugwell/showFund and donations can be made direct to the site.

Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to women and their families affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities. It’s a charity that during her illness Angela found a great source of support and information.

Further information and advice on cervical cancer or cervical abnormalities can be found at www.jotrust.org.uk or the helpline on 0808 802 8000.
