CRASH announces Red Brick Day 2011 beneficiary

Friday April 8 2011 is Red Brick Day the annual fundraising appeal to raise money for a specific homelessness building project from CRASH, the construction industry’s homelessness charity.
The target this year is to raise £10,000 for St Paul’s Homes in Salisbury. The funds will go towards the renovation and conversion of old almshouses – empty for almost 10 years – to offer shelter to homeless people.

The charity, St Paul’s Homes, is planning to provide accommodation for 12 people. Their mission is to help people who are ready to take the next steps towards independent living and into employment, education or training. Project completion is due in 2012.

“This project serves to remind us all that homelessness is not just an inner city issue,” says Francesca Roberts, chief executive of CRASH. “As well as fulfilling a social need in Salisbury, the project has great sustainability credentials, reusing rather than demolishing old buildings and putting them to a valuable new purpose.”

CRASH has produced a Red Brick Day fundraising pack including posters, stickers and ideas for fun fundraising events.
