Construction failure rate drops

Business information expert Equifax has said that construction business failures fell between January and February 2011 compared with a year earlier.

The drop of 20.3% year-on-year was the biggest fall in the failure rate of any sector.

Overall, business failures fell 7.9% for January-February 2011 compared to the same period in 2010.

The latest figures from Equifax come hard on the heels of the latest data released by the Office for National Statistics which showed total industrial production rose by 4.4% in January year-on-year, while manufacturing output rose by 6.8% over the same period.
