Whilst there are reports that the economy is coming out of recession and in construction some of the bigger firms are reporting that things are less gloomy, it would appear that the supply side of the built environment is still making life difficult for itself.

In the past two weeks there has been a flurry of activity about housing; kicked off by criticism of Decent Homes and overall Government performance on housing. Labour was given a ticking off for missing its targets and there was a rush to put the boot in.

A week to go to the election and all the polls indicate a hung Parliament. David Cameron and the Conservatives are on a mission to persuade the world that a hung Parliament is a bad thing; Nick Clegg is trying to keep a poker face and Gordon Brown and the boys and girls in red…

All the talk about hung Parliaments has made smile. Maybe I'm missing the point, but if there is no clear majority it means the leading political parties will have to pull together, talk, work out a solution - maybe even work as a team.
