Howarth Timber & Building Supplies is launching Season 2 of its The 1840 Podcast in September, with episode 1 going live on September 8.
First launched in January, the podcast was created to extend communication beyond the usual annual events, and engage both internal teams and external audiences, giving a voice to employees while showcasing the heritage of one of the UK’s longest-standing family-run builders merchants.
Season 2 begins with a conversation with the Howarth family, offering listeners a behind-the-scenes look at the family business and the values that have guided it for nearly two centuries. The series will continue to celebrate colleagues and bring employees closer together, maintaining the informal and engaging tone that has resonated with listeners.
Episodes in Season 1 included The History of Howarth, where managing director Nick Howarth shared personal insights into the company’s legacy. Other episodes, including A Day in the Life of a Regional Manager and Women in Merchanting, highlighted resilience and determination, reflecting the personal and professional challenges employees face.
Paul Bullivant, Howarth’s commercial director, and the main host of The 1840 Podcast, says: “It has been an incredible journey. If you had told us six months ago that we would have 25 episodes released and a fully established podcast, we would have thought you were crackers. Now we are reflecting on everything we have achieved and using it to shape a more focused, refined Season 2 while staying true to the natural, engaging tone our audience has come to enjoy.”
