Wolseley confirm Chorley distribution closure

Wolseley UK has confirmed that its Chorley distribution centre will close from the end of next month.

Wolseley confirm Chorley distribution closure

The closure of the £17m distribution centre was announced in April and, now that the 90-day consultation period is up, the company has said that 120 jobs are likely to go.

The centre will remain operational up until the end of September, with a phased shut-down after that.

The warehousing and distribution operation for the Bathstore division is being transferred to third party provider DHL Exel Supply Chain in Crick, Northamptonshire. This affects 70 employees who are unlikely to all move the 135 miles.

“The other main activities previously carried out at Chorley DC will transfer to Wolseley’s National Distribution Centre at Leamington Spa and its regional distribution centre in Melmerby,” a Wolseley spokesman said.
