Students get lesson in sustainable building from Chandlers

Representatives from independent merchant Chandlers Building Supplies and Porotherm gave students from Sussex Downs College a lesson in sustainable building on Tuesday 24th February.

The brickwork students were given an overview of how the Porotherm clay block system works focusing on its many cost-effective, time-efficient and sustainable benefits before taking part in a practical demonstration where they learnt how to use the product.

Phil Barnard, head of sustainability at Chandlers Building Supplies, said: “It’s important that those coming into the industry are kept up to date with new products and more sustainable ways to build. The event was fantastic and the students learnt a lot from the hands on workshop.”
