School fights builders merchant

Stoke on Trent City Council is today considering a planning application for a builders merchant in the city. However nearly 200 residents have objected to the plans.
J H and S Building Limited has made a retrospective planning application to run a builders’ merchants with portable building and skip hire on Milton Road, Sneyd Green.

The company has been operating the business since 2005, with skip hire added in 2006. However, MP Joan Walley is opposing the application and has written to council to try and block it.

Other objectors include a local school, Holden Lane High School, which believes the extra traffic generated would be detrimental to pupils’ safety on the way to the school.

Other objections include noise, an inadequate road system and long opening hours.
