Ridgeons gets BM TRADA certification for environmental management

The Saffron Walden branch of independent builders merchant Ridgeons has achieved ISO 14001 certification for ‘Environmental Management’, with leading body BM TRADA Certification.

Angela Rushforth, group managing director at Ridgeons, was presented with the certificate on February 28, at the branch, by Karen Prendergast, BM TRADA UK Operations Manager.

The ISO 14001 certification involves:

  • Developing an environmental policy

  • Identifying environmental aspects and impacts

  • Planning how to fulfil the environmental policy

  • Implementing means to control and mitigate environmental risk

  • Checking effectiveness of the EMS and making improvements

  • Reviewing the EMS with top management

    Angela Rushforth commented: “We are absolutely delighted that the Saffron Walden branch has achieved this certification, which further demonstrates our commitment to improving our green business credentialsand it’s just the first step for the rest of our branches to achieve this too. The effect that businesses are having on the world in which we live is vitally important and anything we can do to reduce this impact is beneficial for all.”
