Knauf UK is pleased to announce the appointment of Karla Malkinson as head of Sustainability UK and Ireland in a move which strengthens the organisation’s commitment to sustainable business.
With a career background in construction and building products, the market in which Knauf operates is familiar territory and Karla brings with her considerable experience in industrial health and safety.
On joining the organisation in October, the immediate priority was to focus on the implementation of Knauf’s internal safety advancement scheme, empowering every staff member with the knowledge and skills to make a positive contribution.
“I see the creation of a safe working environment as fundamental to building a sustainable business for the future” Malkinson summarises. “Employee welfare must be the first priority for any business.”
With this particular initiative now up and running, Malkinson is turning her focus to the sustainability of Knauf’s product range and manufacturing processes. She will be chairing the Gypsum Product Development Association and looking for the industry to build on its impressive track record of waste reduction, recycling and proactive product development.
Emma Delaney, HR and sustainability director of Knauf UK welcomed the appointment. “Our end goal as a product manufacturer must be to contribute to the creation of sustainable buildings. It is central to our overall “Build for the World We Live In” mission and I am delighted that this key role has been filled with someone of Karla’s energy and determination.”
Knauf UK will be publishing its 2019 Sustainability Scorecard in due course and continues to work with its supply chain partners to improve the environmental performance of its product manufacturing and business management.
