Builders merchants buying group the National Buying Group have joined the Construction Products Association as Associate Members.
NBG chief executive Allan Durning says: “We’re very pleased to become members of this organisation. We feel, as the leading independent group for builders merchants, we have to be represented at this forum.
“We want to be having an input into this part of the industry. Over the next 18 months, forecasting the market is going to be vital if our members are to make the most of their businesses.
“Being close to the CPA with their intelligent reports and forecasting panels will help us evolve as an organisation as well as help our members to decide what they do with their businesses in the face of changing economic conditions.”
The organisation has also joined the Green Building Council. Durning says: “Independent merchants need to be at the forefront of these initiatives if they are to be able to play the nationals at their own game.”
