MKM buys DTC

Independent builder’s merchant group MKM Building Supplies, is extending its geographic coverage in Scotland with the acquisition of DTC Merchants Limited.

The transaction completed on 30th October and it will be business as usual for staff and customers of the

Established by Donald Young, Roger Thomson and Colin Cameron in 2007, DTC has three branches based in Dumfries and Irvine, Ayrshire. The company is a Partner in the NBG independent buying group.

Young, who has run and driven the growth of the company, will remain with the business for a period of time to assist with the ownership transition. He said: “MKM has an impressive reputation in the industry and is well-known for its commitment to the local building trade. Becoming part of MKM’s dynamic growth and being able to continue to serve our customers in the way that we always have is a very exciting prospect.”

The acquisition of this high-quality merchant network in the South West of Scotland continues the rapid growth of MKM and expands its geographic coverage. DTC offers a wide range of products to its customer base in the area and this will be enhanced by the MKM product offering.
