Knauf Insulation renames insulation range

Insulation manufacturer Knauf Insulation has brought its core glass and rock mineral wool range under a single name – Earthwool.
This replaces the company’s Crown and Rocksilk brands.

Earthwool uses Knauf’s of ECOSE® Technology binding process to create a new generation of products with far higher levels of usability and sustainability. Earthwool also offers significant improvements to traditional mineral wool in terms of feel, handling and environmental performance.

Knauf Insulation products with ECOSE® Technology are made with a formaldehyde-free binder derived from rapidly renewable, bio-based materials, instead of traditional petro-based chemicals, which reduces embodied energy and delivers superior environmental sustainability. It is naturally brown coloured as there are no artificial colours or dyes and it produces a softer, odourless and easier to handle insulation.

The company is also now using transparent packaging so customers can see the difference in the insulation.

“The development of ECOSE® Technology was revolutionary and has led to a new kind of mineral wool insulation, now easily identifiable under the Earthwool name. Under this single identity is the most comprehensive range of mineral wool products for specifiers and contractors offering levels of sustainability that we can all feel good about,” says Knauf Insulation managing director John Sinfield.
