IoBM launches 2014 Practical Skills Day

Merchant teams can pit their building skills against each other on Tuesday 18th February 2014. The institute is calling for entries from teams of four to compete in a series of challenges covering carpentry, brickwork, paving, painting and electrics.

Now in its third year, the successful Practical Building Skills Challenge Event is designed to offer merchant staff a taste of some of the main building trades.

The work is judged by tutors from the college and prizes for first, second and third awarded. All participants receive one year’s free student membership to the IoBM, for taking part.

“By completing a series of challenges, participants benefit from improved product knowledge, with the overall aim that this instils a confidence that will translate into enhanced customer service and sales capabilities back at branch,” said Steve Sellick, President of the IoBM. “And the team building element is particularly valued by the merchants that take part.”

Merchants who are interested in entering a team can contact Gill Sellick Tel: 01767 650662 email admin@iobm.co.uk
