Ian Haldane, managing director at independent builders merchant Haldane Fisher, has raised £20,000 for the Marie Curie cancer charity by taking part in the Rome Marathon earlier this year.
Haldane handed a cheque over to Suzy McIlveen, senior partnership manager at Marie Curie. Together they celebrate a fantastic raised in support of Ian’s Rome Marathon run in March 2014, for Marie Curie.
Smashing his original fundraising target of £10,000, Haldane ran the marathon in memory of and tribute to his late mother, Elizabeth. He says he was delighted with all the support he received, both from friends and family, as well as colleagues, clients of and suppliers to Haldane Fisher.
“Completing a Marathon has always been a personal long term goal and having the opportunity to raise money for such a worthwhile cause as Marie Curie at the same time has just been fantastic”
Haldane Fisher has 10 branches across Northern Ireland.
McIlveen says: “We have nurses in communities’ right across Northern Ireland, providing care for people with all terminal illnesses at the end of their lives. Ian’s generous donation funds one of our nurses for a whole year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ian, the team at Haldane Fisher and all his fantastic supporters.”
