A fire broke out this morning at independent builders merchant Carversof Wolverhampton.

Fire breaks out at Carvers

Fire crews are currently attending the blaze at the company’s depot in Littles Lane, Wolverhampton.

According to the local newspaper Express and Star, the fire services were called at 11.43 this morning to deal with the fire which sent plumes of smoke billowing into the sky that could be seen for miles around.

Nicky Butler, Express & Star video journalist, tweeted: “Just spoke to a distraught Henry Carver watching his life’s work burn to the ground.”

She quotes Carver, the firms managing director as saying: “It is fair to say I was the last one out and fortunately no one has lost their life”.
