Encon moves forward with fleet investment

Insulation distributor Encon has invested in an additional 46 vehicles, plus an extra 41 Hiab Moffett off-load vehicles.

The latest additions are from long-term supplier Fraikin and include a mix of DAF 32-tonne and 26-tonne rear steer vehicles, plus a 32-tonne flat bed at each London branch, allowing greater access for crane offloading.

The rear steer capability with longer wheel base allows for increased capacity, easier manoeuvrability and access to sites, all of which are prerequisites for safe urban driving. Lane departure warning and automatic braking systems are a new addition to the fleet; key features include a fall arrest system, an improved load restraint package and energy efficient LED lighting.

John Bedford, chief operating officer at Encon, said: “Safety is always top of our agenda when we look to enhance our fleet, and is vital as we encompass new technology and constantly strive to improve our offering and drive to be the distributor of choice.”
