The annual Fleetwood RUFC Sevens Heaven was held on Saturday 16 July.
13 teams entered the seven-a-side touch rugby tournament, including under 10’s, two women’s teams, and a variety of mixed ages and skilled players.
Three groups were drawn up and each match was played with two five minute halves.
The Builders Supplies (West Coast) Ltd team comprised of staff, family and friends, including Brad Stapleton, Rob Miller, Kevin Green, Bob O’Brien, Ash Leary, Zack Coultas, Harrison Lumb, Mike Gorse, Jack Brocklebank and operations director, Vaughn Evans as team manager and master tactician.
“We progressed to the Cup final against another undefeated team, Brookys Bashers. A big crowd watched these two well matched teams slug it out and at full time the scoreline was deadlocked at 1-1. Sudden death was the call from the ref, and within a couple of minutes play opened up and the Green & Yellows romped through to score and secure victory,” says Vaughn Evans.
