Bristan urges industry to ‘Race for Change’ to tackle inclusivity and water scarcity

A major new charity initiative for the construction industry, Race for Change, has officially opened for entries.

Focused on the twin themes of inclusivity and global water scarcity, the event will see 20 teams compete in a unique four-day race across Europe in June 2026,  all in support of vital WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and gender-equality programmes delivered by charity partner The Cycle.

Inspired by the hit TV show Race Across the World, Race for Change will drop teams of three into an undisclosed European location on 19 June 2026, challenging them to navigate back to the UK over four days with no phones and a strictly limited budget. The race will culminate at the Bristan stand at the 2026 InstallerSHOW.

To ensure the spirit of inclusion is embedded at the heart of the challenge, each team must include at least two members who represent diverse characteristics, whether related to gender, ethnicity, neurodivergence, disability, or sexuality. Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences throughout the event, showcasing how diverse teams collaborate, problem-solve and succeed together.

Along the route, teams will take part in challenges designed to raise awareness of water scarcity – supported by Waterwise – and inclusivity, in partnership with the Construction Inclusion Coalition.

  • Race dates: 19–23 June 2026 (including outbound travel)
  • Application deadline: 31 January 2026
  • Entry fee payment deadline: 28 February 2026
  • Team fundraising target: Minimum £2,500

All participants must hold a valid passport and be available for the full race period.
