BMF puts the building materials industry in the national spotlight

Shepherd team HRThe Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) is championing the value and significance of the building materials industry in a new regional and national approach.

Trade association specialist Shepherd PR has been appointed by the Federation to promote and amplify BMF’s key strategic goals nationwide.

Activity will include a focus on the rewarding employment opportunities and career pathways within the industry – emphasised by the BMF’s relaunched website www.buildingmaterialcareers.com

The Federation’s new Builders Merchants Industry Forecast – which analyses market performance – will be promoted, as well as the regional Builders Merchant Building Index.

Commentary on materials supply to meet housing demand, and the implications of Brexit on the trading environment, will also be included in the campaign.

Some of the communications will integrate with the BMF’s successful trade PR activity for maximum impact.

John Newcomb, BMF CEO, said: “The appointment comes at an exciting time for the Federation. We are pressing ahead with a bold strategy to attract and develop new people into the industry and PR will play a key role in that approach.”

“We also want to demonstrate the scope and scale of the sector using our new Industry Forecast and regional data, to clearly attribute the value the UK merchant sector brings to the economy.

“Another important element is, with the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, that the voice of our members is clearly heard, to ensure we help secure the best outcomes in the business climate.”

The BMF will also continue to work with Alison Parkes on trade press announcements.-
