£400,000 investment boosts merchant’s sales

Timber and builders merchant Parker Building Supplies expanded and upgraded their operation during April – to the tune of £400,000.
A kitchen and joinery showroom has been developed in premises adjacent to the heavyside branch in Hailsham, East Sussex. The kitchen showroom features 15 displays from the Symphony collection, while joinery displays include interior and exterior doors, staircases, windows and roof lights, together with a host of related products.

The company’s hard landscaping display at Tonbridge, Kent, has also been extended and now incorporates the Pavestone range of natural stone paving. And a second hard landscaping display at East Grinstead in West Sussex has been rebuilt and now includes Bradstone, Pavestone and Stonemarket paving along with decking and fencing from Forest Garden Products.

Parker financial director Stewart Pierce told BMJ that the company had spent in the region of £400,000 in the last three months on the improvements and said that they had undoubtedly helped sales.

“With the hard landscaping centres, as we’ve been revamping and rebuilding some of the displays it’s helped selling in some ways because customers can see part of it being constructed – there’s a realism to it. On that basis we’re doing two more at the moment, at Uckfield and Crowborough.”
