Rockwool, a provider of stone wool insulation, is launching a new global centre of excellence for fire-stopping at Hams Hall, 10 miles from Birmingham, to manufacture a new range of products.
The new multi-million-pound investment builds on Rockwool’s in-house focus on fire safety.
The new fire-stopping range, due to launch this summer, will include coated batt, sealants, collars, wraps, pillows and socket boxes. The facility will enable Rockwool to manage the product line from conception to delivery and support sustainability.
Rockwool has also announced its intention to open a specialist training centre at Hams Hall later this year. This will provide clients with product demonstrations, with clients having the opportunity to install Rockwool’s fire protection products across a series of rigs set up to mirror a variety of common building applications.

Visitors to the centre will also be able to use these learning sessions as credits towards their Continual Professional Development (CPD).
The training centre will be an addition to Rockwool’s existing e-Learning platform; Rockwool Learning, which provides industry professionals with easy access to self-guided training modules, automatic CPD tracking and digital certification.
This investment follows Rockwool’s recent announcement of a land purchase in Peddimore, north east of Birmingham, with the aim of creating an additional UK stone wool insulation production site.
Managing director Nick Wilson said: “During the past 45 years, we have built a strong foundation of manufacturing at our award-winning Bridgend site, where we will continue to invest, and we’re excited about what the future holds as we expand and invest in the West Midlands. Rockwool values your continued business and support, and we look forward to working with you as we support the journey to a safer built environment.”
