Rob Burrow Centre gets boost from wienerberger

wienerberger UK & Ireland donates roofing products worth more than £40,000 to the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease

Supplier of building solutions, wienerberger, has donated more than £40,000 worth of products to the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in Leeds.

Leeds Hospitals Charity have raised £6.8m to fund the new centre and create a landmark building fully able to support the treatment of MND, inspired by the late rugby league star Rob Burrow, who received care from the Leeds Hospitals team.

The donation, which includes more than 33,500 roof tiles and ridges and 33,000 clips, will go towards the construction of the new centre’s roof.

The facility was designed by Corstorphine & Wright Architects in partnership with the hospital’s clinical staff, and the wider MND community.

Keith Barker, chief operating officer at wienerberger UK & Ireland, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Leeds Hospitals Charity for launching this amazing initiative and for allowing us to lend a helping hand. We’ll be following the construction of the centre with a keen eye from this point forward.”

The centre is being built by local contractor I&G, and is expected to open in autumn 2025.
