Police warn builders and merchants to beware thieves

Police in Exeter are warning builders merchants and builders to keep a close eye on their premises after a spate of thefts in the city.
Building sites, tool stores and hire shops have been hit by thieves in recent months, with the targets mainly being power tools – some cases thousands of pounds worth.

The latest incident was at a branch of Tool Care where five petrol Stihl disc cutters were taken along with a PC laptop, PC desktop and monitor and cash.

A police spokesman said: “These thefts appear to be fairly organized, with many items being specifically selected.

“Builders and builders’ merchants need to be aware and secure their premises and report anything suspicious.”
