Leyland and AkzoNobel combine to fight homelessness

Tradespeople and home improvers will be helping to combat homelessness in London every time they buy a tin of Dulux paint at Leyland over the next fortnight.

Leading decorating and DIY specialist Leyland has partnered with paint giant AkzoNobel to launch a charity campaign in aid of St Mungo’s, the second largest homelessness charity in the UK.cf8969da 2175 4ad4 afc6 99e897ca003f

Naivasha Elworthy, head of marketing at Leyland, said: “We are proud to be working in partnership with our friends at AkzoNobel on this important charity campaign.

“Homelessness is a significant and growing issue in London. As a London-centric business with 35 stores across the capital, we want to support the people and good causes within our communities and this is just one example of that.

“Dulux Trade and Dulux Heritage products are always extremely popular, both with tradespeople and home improvers, but I hope we can sell even more than usual to raise as much as possible for St Mungo’s.”

From December 2 to December 15, Leyland and AkzoNobel will each donate £1 for every tin of Dulux Trade or Dulux Heritage sold of 750ml or more.

The campaign includes both in-store and online sales. The money will be used by St Mungo’s to help the near-5,000 people who are sleeping on the streets of London – a 42% increase on the same period last year.

Peter Howard, Sustainability, CSR & partnership lead at Dulux, commented: “This partnership is a shining example of brand-customer-cause collaboration. By purchasing Dulux Trade or Dulux Heritage products, decorators and DIYers are not only enhancing their living spaces but also making a meaningful impact on the lives of those without homes. We hope this promotion will colour many lives with the hope and warmth of the coming Christmas season.”

St Mungo’s operates at the frontline of the homelessness crisis, providing essential services to those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Laura Herring, Director of Fundraising & Communications for St Mungo’s, said: “This partnership goes beyond paint – it’s about making a real difference.

“Each tin sold during these two weeks will directly support St Mungo’s vital work, helping people rebuild their lives and find a place to call home.

“Last year we helped more than 25,000 people across 160 services. Our teams help our clients wherever they are, from rough sleeping support and emergency accommodation, to finding a longer-term home, as well as skills and training services to get people into work.”

Amongst its services, St Mungo’s offers a construction skills programme, which equips people with qualifications in skills like painting, wallpapering, plumbing and dry lining.

These accredited courses pave the way for participants to secure employment, often through connections with construction firms, helping individuals rebuild their lives with confidence and stability.

Leyland stores are found in prominent locations across London, stocking a comprehensive range of products, including paint and decorating essentials, tools, hardware, electrical and plumbing equipment and building materials.
